Training Philosophy

P.A.S.A. F.C. training schedule is a 10 month program which is designed to accelerates overall player development.  Training sessions are planned and organized ahead of time based on either the current level of the team or an analysis and evaluation of the last match. This means that each session will have a theme, and a progression will follow this theme.  Our training philosophy is that practice must be game related and must have all elements of the game.

The curriculum focuses on the four aspects each player must develop: technical, tactical, physical, and Physiological.  The players are forced to face these considerations at every competitive opportunity, whether in training or in games.

Some of the different topics covered in the training program are:

-         Ball Mastery

-         Moves to beat opponent

-    1 v 1 defense and offense

-    Settling balls out of the air

-    Accurate Passing

-    Emphasis on moving with and without the ball

-    Team Shape

-    Principles of offense & Defense

-    Tackling

-    Coordination and footwork

Training Season

Fall Season begins the third week of August and runs through mid November.  Team will play 10 games in the fall including tournaments.

Indoor Training begins the first week of January and run through end of March.  Indoor training is utilized to refine individual and team skills to accelerate player development. Players are expected to participate in the teams indoor activities.

Spring Season begins in April and runs through mid June.  Teams will play 10 games in the spring including tournaments.

Team training will occur twice weekly with games on weekends. Each session consists of 1 hour of instruction (Individual skill development) followed by ½ hour of small sided games and ½ hour scrimmages.

Tournaments

Travel and lodging costs are the responsibility of the parents. Parents are responsible for their child's portion of any tournament fee regardless of whether the child will be participating in the tournament.

Team Management

There are two fundamental characteristics of each team:

·         The emphasis of the coach is on the development of the team and its players.

·         The administrative and organizational characteristics and responsibilities of the team are largely taken on by a parent on the team.

·         The "coaching and development" aspects of the Team are the sole sponsibility of the coach:

·         P.A.S.A. F.C. coaches are well-qualified.

·         P.A.S.A. F.C. coaches have years of experience playing and/or coaching the game of soccer.

·         P.A.S.A. F.C. coaches have decided that "they want to coach" and, as such, have made a significant commitment of their time, energy and expertise to the development of P.A.S.A F.C. players and their teams.

·         It is P.A.S.A F.C. preference to have coaches who are not parents of team members.

The support of the team involves the parents. The parents are vital to team success as they are responsible for carrying out the administrative needs of the team, and thereby allowing the coach(es) to focus on development. It is through the parents' that "team administrative management" is accomplished - "many hands make little work."

Team Structure
The organization of a soccer team is necessarily built around the coaching staff. P.A.S.A. F.C. coaches, unlike coaches in some clubs, are considered part of the Club support structure, and may change teams from time to time to meet the overall Club needs. This "team of Coaches" approach to soccer is a major asset of the Club. All P.A.S.A F.C. coaches are there for the support of all P.A.S.A F.C. teams first and individual teams second. Each team is organized as follows:

Head Coach
A Head Coach will be selected by the Director of Coaching and Director of Player Development. The Coach will have overall responsibility for the team, and he or she should be your first contact in the event of a problem. The coach is responsible for team discipline, player substitution, and game tactics.

Assistant Coach
Each P.A.S.A. F.C. team strives to have at least one Assistant Coach who should be an active participant in all team activities. The functions and responsibilities assigned to the assistant coach will be at the Head Coach's discretion. The Assistant Coach should be able to step in for the Head Coach in the event of his/her absence. Assistant Coaches should be afforded the same respect and consideration as the Head Coach.

Team Manager
The Team Manager is an invaluable and necessary member of the team organization and serves "at the discretion and pleasure" of the Head Coach. The Team Manager handles many of the administrative aspects of the team, often supported by other team parents. If you are interested in becoming a Team Manager, or assisting the Team Manager, please contact the coach or Team Manager of your child's team

PASA Summer Academies

Summer 2011 Academies

PASA offers 4-day Summer Academies to help develop players to their fullest potential. Our goal is to make players more proficient from their very foundations of the techniques of soccer, (Ball mastery, individual moves, ball control and passing), and connect this with a players' ability to tactically understand the game better. In the end, the player will have a better understanding of the mechanics of soccer.
